  1. In the regression equation, atrial fibrillation, heart failure, and chronic renal failure are indicator variables, coded 1 for subjects with past or present disease and 0 without disease. Units of the other variables are as in Table 1. Summary statistics relating to the regression fit include ANOVA (F4,126 = 27.6, p < 0.0001; adjusted R2 = 0.45). Plasma BNP was associated with atrial fibrillation, heart failure, chronic renal failure, and LA dimension, independently.
